Jays fuel ratings boost for Sportsnet

How 'bout that local sports team? Jays average viewership was up 112% in August versus this time last year.

The Toronto Blue Jays winning ways propelled ratings at Sportsnet for the month of August, delivering a network-record 6.8 share for the month across its channels.

According to data released by Rogers this week, Blue Jays broadcasts for the month had an average audience of 1.2 million, up 112% over last August’s numbers. Overall, 23 out of the 27 Blue Jays games during the month had over one million viewers.

Sportsnet’s pre-game show, Blue Jays Central, had an average audience of 422,000 in August, up 139% over last year’s numbers.

Recap show Jays in 30 had an average audience of 137,000 viewers in August, up 213% over 2014.

For the season to date, Sportsnet is up 36% overall on Blue Jays broadcasts, with an average audience of 793,000 viewers.

Overall, Major League Baseball coverage on Sportsnet for the month was up 94% versus the same time last year, with an average audience of 189,000 viewers.
