The Late Show with Stephen Colbert had a strong premiere on Tuesday night.

Global’s new late night pick-up, the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, debuted to strong numbers on Tuesday night.

The show had an average viewership of 588,800 viewers for its premiere, with 235,300 of viewers in the 25-to 54-year-old demographic.

Global acquired the Late Show with Stephen Colbert as part of its efforts to reach more younger viewers, according to Christine Shipton, chief creative officer at Shaw Media at this year’s upfront.

Overall, the show reached 1.4 million viewers on Global. It airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m.
