Quebecor Media Group has announced that it will be cutting 220 positions, or about 8% of its workforce. Those cuts will include 125 positions from TVA Group.
According to a release, the cuts will balance the company’s cost structure and enhance operational efficiencies. The cuts will largely affect manager-level and administrative staff. Staff reductions will not have an impact on newsrooms or news coverage across Québec, according to the release.
In addition to the job cuts, the media company announced it is shuttering two of its magazines: CHEZ SOI and Tellement bon.
Quebecor Media Group also announced that local sales forces will now be under the responsibility of the company’s advertising network, which was already responsible for national sales, media creativity and research.
