Following on the heels of an official HVAC partner in Mitsubishi Electric Sales Canada last month, the NHL has announced another niche partner, naming PPG as the league’s official paint.
The multi-year deal includes Canada and the U.S. and will go live with this Saturday’s outdoor game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers at Heinz Field, which is part of the 2017 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series.
The league-wide deal is an extension of the 20-year naming-rights agreement that PPG has with the Pittsburgh Penguins for its PPG Paints Arena. The NHL deal was arranged with Paragon Sports Marketing.
As part of the new deal, PPG will have its products featured at this weekend’s outdoor game as well as future NHL Stadium Series matches and the annual NHL Winter Classic. That branding will include dasher boards around the ice, as well as scoreboard features and event-related activities, according to an NHL release.
PPG will also have rights to use NHL marks and logos on its product packaging, point-of-purchase displays and on social media and digital marketing.
