The second episode of the latest season of Survivor won the week according to Numeris. The long-running reality show, which airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. on Global, boasted the highest average-minute audience (2+) of all daily shows across Canada for the week of March 13 to 19.
The show captured an audience just shy of 2.05 million people.
Directly on the heels of Survivor was the similarly titled (but not similar in content) Designated Survivor on CTV. The Wednesday night drama brought in an audience of just under two million viewers. Both Survivor and Designated Survivor cracked the top-five in most English-speaking markets.
Dramas were the hit of the week, with Criminal Minds (CTV, Wednesdays at 9 p.m.), NCIS (Global, Tuesdays at 8 p.m.) and Grey’s Anatomy (CTV, Thursdays at 7 p.m.) rounding out the top-five. While the Numeris charts have been topped by comedy series The Big Bang Theory more often than not, the series is currently in the midst of a three-week break, set to return March 30.
The top-five remained relatively similar across most Anglophone markets, with NCIS: New Orleans (which broadcast two back-to-back episodes on March 14) ranking high in the Toronto/Hamilton, Vancouver/Victoria and Calgary markets.
While Survivor got nowhere close to the top-five in Montreal (it placed 13th of all daily shows in the city, with 49,000 viewers), it was still feeling the reality TV love, with both The Voice‘s performance show and result show breaking into the top to the rankings.
The French market stayed similar to previous weeks, with La voix coming out on top for the sixth straight week with 2.22 million viewers. L’heure Bleue on TVA returned to the top-five, taking the third spot and knocking last week’s fifth-ranked program, O’, down to sixth place.
