Wynonna Earp swaps CHCH for Space

Bell Media has joined the Emily Andras series as a production partner for season two, which is currently shooting in Calgary.

Emily Andras’ Wynonna Earp has found a new Canadian home.

The supernatural western is moving from Hamilton, ON-based channel CHCH to Bell Media’s Space channel for its sophomore season. The switch gives the series nationwide TV distribution and places it among Spaces sci-fi lineup, which includes Orphan BlackKilljoys and Dark Matter.

Currently in production in Calgary, Bell Media has boarded season two as a production partner and will air new episodes on Space channel this summer. In the U.S., the show airs on Syfy.

In addition, Bell Media picked up the season-one rights and will begin re-airing the first 13 episodes on Space starting Saturday, April 15 at 10 p.m. Wynonna will debut in the timeslot following the season 10 premiere of Doctor Who, which airs at 9 p.m.

Last week it was announced that Netflix had acquired the SVOD rights to season one for the U.S. and Canada. On U.S. Netflix, Wynonna launches on April 1, though no date has been set for its launch on Canadian Netflix. A spokesperson for Bell Media told Playback Daily there are currently no plans to bring the series to CraveTV.
