Montreal-based specialty TV service Stingray Digital Group has added another music channel to its portfolio.
Stingray has acquired London, U.K.-based satellite and cable TV channe, C Music Entertainment. The channel specializes in classical, crossover and cinematic music videos. It is distributed through pay TV, satellite, IPTV and mobile providers in more than 100 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.
In a release announcing the purchase, Stingray co-founder and CEO Eric Boyko said the company is “aggressively pursuing” its strategy of building a portfolio of music-focused specialty channels.
Last year, Stingray picked up four Bell Media music channels: Juicebox, MuchLoud, MuchRetro and MuchVibe. It also acquired Festival 4K TV, which offers live concert programming, from Brava TV Group in the Netherlands.
