Dodd Media wins Flipboard

The company will be targeting Canadian clients looking for both global or Canada-only audiences

Flipboard has selected Dodd Media Group as its advertising and media sales representative in Canada.

The American-based app allows users to create custom digital magazines based on topics relevant to them using a combination of editorial and algorithmic curation.

Dodd Media, which represents premium publishers in the U.S. and predominantly sells to American and Canadian companies who are looking to reach the U.S. consumer audience, has worked with publisher Condé Nast for the last 30 years. It was chosen among other media companies in Canada after being approach by Flipboard.

Flipboard’s business model has been focused on working with content publishers and pursuing opportunities through its direct sales team, according to Christine Cook, SVP and head of global sales at Flipboard. The company has deployed both direct sales and programmatic strategies locally and internationally, and wanted to begin doing so in Canada, she said.

Through five different ad units,  the agency will deliver full-screen mobile ads with the ability to geo-target or interest-target, says Lori Dodd, VP at Dodd Media. The company will be targeting Canadian clients looking for global or Canada-only audiences in the categories of travel (personal and business), finance, fashion, technology, luxury, automotive, among others.

Flipboard said it has reached 3 million monthly users in Canada and more than 100 million monthly users globally.
