The puck officially drops on the NHL post-season April 11.
With the regular hockey season coming to a close, Sportsnet has officially announced details of the broadcast schedule for the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The first day of broadcasts will see match-ups of the Minnesota Wild and the Winnipeg Jets on Sportsnet (7 p.m.), the Pittsburgh Penguins vs. the Philadelphia Flyers on CBC (7 p.m.) the Las Vegas Golden Knights vs. the Los Angeles Kings on CBC (10 p.m.).
Most matches will be broadcast on Sportsnet (as well as Sportsnet One and Sportsnet 360), with some airing on CBC and Omni.
Last year’s Playoffs saw a major increase in AMA from 2016 – an average of 1.61 million tuned into the entire broadcast schedule across Sportsnet and CBC, up 94% from 2016, with an average of 24 billion minutes watched. This was due in no small part to the presence of five Canadian teams in the playoffs. This year, only two Canadian teams (the Leafs and the Jets) have secured playoff spots – still two more than the bunch that made it in 2016.
