Auto, financial services buy big in Toronto: Media Monitors

Ford took the top in Toronto, while Mitsubishi scored in Montreal.

Ford cruised to the top of the radio ad buying charts in Toronto for the week of July 23 to 29.

Rising up from the #5 position in the previous week, the auto brand had a play count of just under 1,000. It was followed by the Acura Dealer Association (up from #4) and Honda Ontario, staying put at #3. MarineLand rose up two spots to #4, while new entrant Bell Internet and TV rounded out the top five.

Despite the big buys by auto brands, it was banks, credit unions, mortgage brokers and financial services that were the top-buying category in Toronto for the week. A total of 3,822 spots were purchased under the banner.

Over in Montreal, the Mitsubishi Dealers Association took the top spot, climbing up from #3. Ford entered the list at #2, while CTV, which has spent most of this year at #1 in Montreal, slid to #3.

Rounding out the list were Shopper’s Drug Mart (up from #6) and Just For Laughs (down from #2).

Also new to the top 10 was Lucky Mobile (#9).

Once again, the car and truck (Asian factory) category was the highest-buying category in Montreal, purchasing 675 total spots (down from 789).
