Amazing Race Canada takes the lead: Numeris

The reality show grew its audience in most Canadian markets.

With the World Cup out of the way, Canada has zeroed in on its second-favourite televised contest, The Amazing Race Canada.

The CTV reality show pulled in an average of 1.81 million viewers nationally, making it the top-watched single-night program in all of Canada for the week of July 16 to 22. That represented a gain over its previous audience of 1.6 million.

That was followed by fellow reality show America’s Got Talent with 1.51 million viewers. Scripted series Code Black, which has pulled in consistently high numbers this summer, also grew its audience, coming in at 1.49 million viewers. Finally, Big Brother rounded out the week with its Sunday and Wednesday broadcasts (1.39 million and 1.29 million viewers, respectively).

Despite the Race‘s strong finish, the top show for each market fluctuated. Some markets such as Montreal and Vancouver opted for America’s Got Talent, while Toronto and Calgary went for scripted with Code Black. Other top performing shows in various markets included World of Dance, American Ninja Warrior and Masterchef, as well as A l’affiche dimache in the Francophone market.
