CBC ups Gave Lindo to exec director of OTT

Lindo will spearhead the pubcaster's OTT content strategies and oversee its slate of original digital content for all platforms.

Gave LindoCBC has upped Gave Lindo to the role of executive director of OTT programming.

In the role, Lindo will spearhead the pubcaster’s OTT content strategies and work with all internal teams to expand CBC’s digital presence. Reporting to GM of programming Sally Catto, Lindo will also oversee CBC’s slate of original digital content for all platforms.

Lindo returned to CBC in late 2017 in the role of senior director and chief of staff, programming after working in the business and rights division from 2009 to 2015. From 2015 to 2017 he served as executive director of the Reelworld Film Festival.

“Gave will bring a wealth of experience to this role, both from his time spent outside of CBC and from his most recent role as senior director and chief of staff, programming. His strong leadership and strategic abilities will be invaluable to CBC as we continue to evolve our streaming strategies in response to audience and market trends,” said Catto.

With Lindo’s promotion, Jenna Bourdeau, who previously served as exec director of OTT programming and acquisitions, has moved to focus exclusively on the acquisition of domestic and international programming. She’ll report to Catto and collaborate with Lindo on OTT strategies in the role of senior director, acquisitions.

The appointment comes as CBC continues to expand its digital presence and experiment with a number of digital-first release strategies for both original content and third-party acquisitions. The pubcaster’s library of digital content now includes more than 4,000 hours of content. As well, in June, CBC revealed that Don Carmody TV-produced series Northern Rescue (CBC/Netflix) will become its first original drama to receive a digital-first release. In Canada, the project will launch exclusively on the CBC TV app and cbc.ca/watch, with all episodes being released simultaneously in December, before heading to linear at a later date next year.
