Global has given a 10-episode order to Nurses (working title), a new medical drama from eOne, adding it to its winter 2019 lineup.
The hour-long series, produced in partnership with ICF Films and Piazza Entertainment, follows four young nurses working on the front lines of St. Jude’s Hospital. The scripted drama is set to premiere at a date in 2019 to be determined.
ICF Films’ Ilana Frank (Rookie Blue) will exec produce the series with Piazza Entertainment’s Vanessa Piazza (Dark Matter), with Adam Pettle (Burden of Truth) serving as showrunner, writer and executive producer. In addition, Tassie Cameron will serve as an exec producer. No cast have yet been announced for the series.
ICF and eOne have had a first-look deal in place since 2008. Under the agreement, the two have previously produced dramas like Rookie Blue and Saving Hope. The companies are also currently working together with Eagle Vision on CBC legal drama Burden of Truth, starring Kristin Kreuk (Smallville).
The news follows Global’s recent renewals for new seasons of Ransom (eOne/Sienna Films), Private Eyes (eOne), Big Brother Canada (Corus Entertainment/Insight Productions/Endemol Shine) and a third and final season of Mary Kills People (Cameron Pictures/eOne).
