Adapt Media partners with the Ontario Korean Businessmen’s Association
Toronto-based OOH company Adapt Media has partnered with the Ontario Korean Businessmen’s Association (OKBA) this week, marking the media company’s expansion into the convenience store advertising network across the province. The partnership gives OKBA’s members the ability to install Adapt Media’s ad placements in their stores, providing an additional revenue source while creating more place-based ad opportunities for advertisers. The foundation, created in 1974, is regarded as the largest organization of independent convenience stores in Ontario.
Facebook launches new Messenger features
Facebook Canada added new camera features, effects and stickers to Messenger this week, adding video looping app, Boomerang, and Selfie mode, which lets users take portraits with Messenger’s camera. The apps join the already existing Normal, Video and Text cameras.
In addition, the platform added new AR stickers and holiday-themed filters and masks to the platform. According to the social networking company, 20 million people use camera effects on Messenger and send 440 million stickers in chats per day.
Globe and Mail opens up shop
The Globe and Mail launched its own gift shop this week, featuring limited edition items including a tote, rock glasses, S’well travel water bottle, notebook and duffel bag – all with Globe and Mail branding. The products range from $22 to $189.99.
CBC NYE Broadcast goes coast-to-coast
Canada’s New Year’s Eve Countdown to 2019 on CBC will be hosted by actor Gerry Dee. Airing from Niagara Falls, the broadcast event will feature performances coast-to-coast, with Burton Cummings, The Sheepdogs, Walk off the Earth performing in Niagara Falls, Ontario, The Jerry Cans in Iqaluit, North West Territories, The East Pointers, Hillsburn, Joel Plaskett Emergency and Reeny Smith in Charlottetown, PEI, Hubert Lenoir and Afrikana Soul Sister in Montreal, Quebec, Joey Stylez in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, The Reklaws in Canmore, Alberta and Dehli 2 Dublin in Grouse Mountain, British Columbia. The show will air December 31 at 11 p.m. on CBC as well as stream on YouTube and CBC Gem.
