CTV says ‘I Do’ to Netflix on new unscripted project

I Do, Redo is Bell Media's first partnership with Netflix on an unscripted series, and will be hosted by stylist Jessica Mulroney.

CTV and Netflix have co-commissioned a new unscripted series helmed by stylist and wedding expert Jessica Mulroney, now in production.

I Do, Redo follows Mulroney as she gives couples who had disastrous nuptials a do-over, putting together their dream wedding. The 10 x 30-minute series will be produced by the Boat Rocker-owned unscripted prodco Insight Productions in association with CTV. It is slated for a 2020 release, airing on Bell Media’s CTV and CTV Life channels, and will be available to stream on Crave in Canada and on Netflix worldwide.

This is the first time Bell Media and Netflix have partnered on an unscripted series. The broadcaster has previously partnered with Netflix on the drama Frontier, which was co-commissioned with Discovery Canada.

The greenlight follows recent comments from CBC president Catherine Tait, who said the pubcaster has no plans to co-commission series with Netflix while the streamer is not subject to the same regulations as Canadian broadcasters, adding it would “hurt the long-term viability of our domestic industry,” during an appearance on the Content Canada podcast.
