The Globe and Mail's Andrew Saunders will chair the board, and leaders of specialty councils and committees have also been selected.

AndrewSaunders-PortraitIAB Canada has named its new board of directors, as well as council and committee chairs for 2020.

Officially passed at yesterday’s board meeting, this year’s board of directors is chaired by The Globe and Mail chief revenue officer Andrew Saunders (pictured above). Aber Group founder and president Jay Aber and ComScore SVP Bryan Segal will be co-vice chairs, and LinkedIn Canada head of agency partnerships Jeff Lancaster is secretary.

Directors are:

  • Darren Bulakowski, head of monetization at Pelmorex;
  • Gah-Yee Won, director of global media and marketing science at Scotiabank;
  • RJ Pauloski, VP of sales and business development at Teads;
  • Jeff MacPherson, director of monetization and platform services at CBC;
  • Edith Gagne, VP of programmatic sales operations at Broadsign;
  • Maura Hanley, co-founder and CEO of Evincive;
  • Michka Mancini, VP of digital sales and emerging media at Rogers;

  • Joe Strolz, president and managing partner at Curate Mobile

Sonia Carreno, president of IAB Canada, says that as the industry changes, it’s important to have a variety of voices at the table, including Canadian publishers, marketers and ad tech experts.

As such, the IAB has also selected its committees and councils for special focuses. Quantcast’s Laura Main will lead the ad tech council, while Havas’ Fil Lourenco will lead the agency council.

Speaking to MiC, Lourenco says he put his hand up for the position out of a desire to have agencies and marketers, as well as tech platforms, come to the table together in order to create a better media ecosystem through representation.

“The challenges facing agencies are increasingly becoming the challenges facing marketers and clients,” he says, citing both talent and transparency as major issues that he thinks can be better tackled collaboratively.

For committees, Rogers’ Rose Hutchison will lead data and analytics. Jennifer Bidwell of Astral OOH will lead DOOH, Chamelon Digital Media’s Alan Sifuentes and FrontRunner’s Amanda Dorenberg will lead mobile and Google Canada’s Carmel Doherty will lead search.
