People Moves: Innocean, GroupM and more

Kingstar promotes a media director, while specialty network Sport-Média adds a new national account manager.

Innocean Worldwide Canada has announced a series of promotions aimed at strengthening its media services, among other offerings. Of 18 promotions, 12 were within the media department including several at the senior level. Alison Binkley is now senior media director of the Kia Canada account, while David Nolet has stepped into Binkley’s former media director role. Kimberley Davies, former buying supervisor, is now a broadcasting manager leading French media buying at the agency’s Quebec office. Four have been promoted to supervisor positions: Manuel Pena and Warren Fragata are now supervisors of performance digital, Sarah Barker is now a media supervisor and Estelle Nguyen is the new senior supervisor, digital media. On the programmatic team, Tina Tran and Tim Wong have been promoted to programmatic managers.

New hires across GroupM’s network

WPP’s GroupM, home to agencies including MediaCom, Wavemaker and Mindshare, has added new senior leadership at the global level. Demet Ikiler has been named CEO of the agency group for EMEA, effective immediately. The role was most recently held by Dominic Grainger, who transitioned to WPP as CEO of special communications last fall. Ikiler will remain WPP’s country manager in Turkey, a role she has held since 2013.

0 (5)Additionally, in Canada, GroupM shop MediaCom has hired Celeste Warren (pictured right) as head of talent and culture. Although Warren comes to MediaCom from Picton Mahoney Asset Management, most of her experience in talent and human resources has been at agencies including MSL Canada, Edelman, North Strategic and Fleishman-Hillard.

Kingstar promotes Mark Orton

After three years with direct response agency Kingstar Media, Mark Orton has been promoted to associate media director. Orton previously worked as a media manager for Kingstar, which specializes in TV campaigns. Orton’s clients include Sleep Country Canada, Wayfair and March.com. He’s also participated in several company pitches which have led to the acquisitions of new national accounts.

Véronique Barbeau (pictured left), a former senior account director with specialty place-based media services such as Eat It Up Media and Rouge Media, has joined the team at Montreal-based Sport-Média Marketing as a national account manager. Sport-Média specializes in arena and sport facility media placement, with some of its prominent facilities and tournaments including the Rogers Cup, and facilities and teams at McGill University. Ad clients for naming rights have included Honda and Volkswagen.
