The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) of Canada has chosen Quantcast Choice as its consent management platform (CMP), part of an effort to modernize compliance in the Canadian market.
“While Europe has largely adopted the use of consent management platforms to comply with more complex privacy regulations, Canada has relatively less experience,” Sonia Carreno, president of IAB Canada, tells MiC. “In our efforts to modernize the technical aspects of compliance with a myriad of regulations outside of our own borders, we do recommend adoption of flexible platforms that can integrate with global standards to lessen the burden on first parties.”
IAB Canada implementing a PIPEDA-compliant CMP for its own site aims to demonstrate its commitment towards more progressive privacy technology, as well as the technical specifications required to make it all work. Quantcast Choice supports the Transparency and Consent Framework 2.0 and other key privacy regulations and industry standards.
“Publishers around the globe need to keep consumers’ best interests top of mind as advertisers and marketers look to successfully navigate a privacy-first world,” said Laura Main, managing director for Quantcast Canada, in a statement.
IAB Canada has also published a CMP guide, written in collaboration with Quantcast and other industry leaders, to help inform CMP adoption and best practices.
