Global’s thrice-weekly broadcasts of new Big Brother episodes continue to be big summer draws, according to Numeris data for the week of July 26 to Aug. 1.

The three new episodes each earned a place in the top five rated shows nationally, with fellow Global program Private Eyes taking second and W’s Good Witch taking fifth.

While those three shows – along with Nurses and The Bachelorette – performed well in several other regional markets, the typical summer drop-off in TV viewership coupled with competition from the Tokyo Olympics did seem to throw viewing for somewhat of a loop in some cities.

For example, the most popular single-day broadcast in Montreal was a TSN morning broadcast of a Formula One race, while re-runs of NCIS and Discovery reality show Naked and Afraid were able to crack the top five in Calgary with around 30,000 viewers each.

In Quebec, Francophone viewers are continuing to tune in to Hôpital New Amsterdam, followed by long-running talk show Vlog.
