Toyota was the most active among a number of automakers that have been making big radio pushes this fall, according to Media Monitors reporting for the week of Oct. 18 to 24.
The automaker made a big leap in radio spots from last week, jumping from ninth, displacing Bell, which maintained a respectable buy to hold on the second spot. HSBC also made a big jump to third, while a new radio campaign behind Telsus’ Friendly Future Foundation was the fourth-most active on the city’s airwaves. Ontario Tourism maintained its buy from the week prior to round out the top five.
Looking at categories, automaker ads were far and away the most present on Toronto radio, followed by public service ads and those for financial services.
In Montreal, Virgin Plus was a fresh addition to a roster of brands that have maintained strong radio presences this fall. The wireless brand was in second behind the Government of Quebec, with GM, Bell and McDonald’s rounding out the top five. Categorically, government ads and those for automakers had the most spots on the city’s radio stations.
