Peloton once again buys the top in Toronto: Media Monitors

McDonald's and the country's wireless carriers have also increased their buys as the holiday season begins.

Peloton and the Government of Quebec have held on to their status as the most active radio buyers in Toronto and Montreal, according to Media Monitors data for Nov. 22 to 28.

While the fitness brand held on to its top spot in Toronto amid a holiday push, Goodfood and Shoppers Drug Mart made slight increases in their radio buys to slide into the second and third spots, respectively. McDonald’s made a big boost in its buy for fourth, while Desjardins kicked off a new radio campaign with a buy good enough for fifth.

McDonald’s also made an effort to shake up the rankings in Montreal, where it was also the fourth-most active radio advertiser after not buying any ads the week prior. But other than that, the list looked very similar to the week prior. The Government of Quebec, Amazon and Sunwing maintained the top three spots, with Nissan, National Bank and Shoppers Drug Mart dropping only slightly.

One slight change lower on the list, however, is that telcos seem to have upped their radio efforts in Montreal ahead of the holidays. Virgin Plus made a big boost to make a return to the top ten, while Rogers and Bell kicked off new radio pushes.

Categorically, that led to wireless carriers being the most active advertiser category in Montreal, followed by government ads and business services. Back in Toronto, QSRs were the most active, followed by business services and wireless carriers.
