Stingray names new chief experience and strategy officer for Chatter Research

Zack Hamilton has been hired by music and media company Stingray as chief experience and strategy officer for Chatter Research.

Chatter is Stingray’s research arm, using surveys and AI to gather customer feedback and insights in retail and restaurant settings, where the company already has a strong presence through its music network. Hamilton has been tasked with working with Chatter’s existing executive team to ensure its strategy delivers value to clients, while also building relationships and a go-to-market strategy in the customer and employee experience industry.

Hamilton was previously principal and global head of retail experience at Medallia, during which he was an advisor to over 200 retailers globally.

Rogers locks down Staffieri as its permanent CEO

Tony Staffieri, who has been serving as interim CEO of Rogers since Nov. 16, has been officially named the media giant’s president and CEO.

Prior to his fall appointment, Staffieri spent nearly a decade as chief financial officer at Rogers. Previous to that, he held senior leadership positions with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Celestica International and Bell Canada Enterprises. He currently serves as a board director of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) and chair of Ryerson University’s Board of Governors.

Staffieri took over as interim CEO after Joe Natale stepped down at the Toronto-based telecom after a battle within its board of directors went public and chairman Edward Rogers replaced five members of the board following a failed attempt to remove Natale as president and CEO. Staffieri was Edward Rogers’ original choice to replace Natale.

Michael Melling takes over leadership of CTV News

CTV has looked internally to pick new leadership for its news content, naming Michael Melling VP of CTV News.

Melling will be responsible for all news, information and current events programming, which includes the CTV News broadcasts, networks BNN Bloomberg and CP24, as well as shows Power Play, Question Period and W5. CTV News is currently the highest-rated source of broadcast news in the country, a status Melling has been tasked with maintaining.

Michael joined the company in 2003 as an editorial assistant at BNN Bloomberg, and has taken increasingly senior roles since then; mostly recently, he was general manager of CTV News Toronto, CP24 and BNN Bloomberg.

Melling replaces Wendy Freeman in the role, who left CTV after 25 years prior to the holidays to pursue new opportunities.
