Kristie Painting will be joining Pinterest as country manager for Canada in early April. She is leaving Wavemaker Canada, where she has been CEO for more than three years.
In her new post, Painting will be responsible for leading the sales team and working with brands and agencies to expand Pinterest’s advertising program in Canada.
Painting will report to Erin Elofson, head of Canada and APAC. Elofson previously held the role of country manager of Canada but was promoted to head of Canada, Australia and Japan in July 2020. Country managers were hired in Japan and Australia last year.
Painting has extensive media, advertising tech industry experience. She was named CEO of Wavemaker Canada in 2018, prior to which she was VP, digital sales and platforms and revenue management for Bell Media. She also previously held senior positions with Olive Media, Yahoo! Canada and Checkout 51.
Hiring the media vet is the latest effort by Pinterest to bolster its relationships with agencies and advertisers in Canada. After first opening a dedicated Canadian office in 2018, the social platform accelerated its expansion by committing to 50 new hires over the course of last year.
