Virgin Plus tops charts in Toronto and Montreal: Media Monitors

Subway also boosted its radio buys in both cities.

Virgin Plus shot up the Media Monitors rankings to take the top spot among radio advertisers for the week of Feb. 28 to March 6.

The wireless carrier had 1,421 radio spots in Toronto last week, jumping up the charts from seventh place the week earlier. The Government of Ontario dropped to the second spot with 1,341 radio ads, and Subway was the third most active advertiser with 970 ads.

Virgin Plus also took the top spot in Montreal, up from fourth place, with 556 radio ads. The Ford Dealers Association was the second most active advertiser. It made its debut in the top 10 along with Subway, Bell Wireless, and Casino Montreal, who all increased their radio buys and entered the top 10 charts.

Categorically, lotteries, business and consumer services, and wireless carriers had the biggest presence on Toronto radio, while wireless carriers, government, and insurance were the most active in Montreal.
