These days we all need a bit of good news, and quite a few radio stations will find it in the latest PPM ratings from Numeris, released Wednesday.
The new release completes the thirteen-week period covering Nov. 29, 2021 to Feb. 27, 2022. Once again, all listening for this period occurred during the COVID-19.
Toronto
Bragging rights at the top of the ratings heap once again go to CBC Radio One, delivering a 15.9 % share for A12+ (up from 14.3%).
Taking the top spot with women 25 to 54 is adult contemporary station CHUM-FM with a 15.1% share (down from 16.6%), while CHFI-FM extended its sizeable lead with women 18 to 34 with a 21.4% share (up from 14%). Despite slight drops, BOOM-FM is on top both for men 25 to 54 (a 10.4% share, down from 12.6%) and men 18 to 34 with an 11.1% (down from 16.5%). Q107 is close to the lead with men 18 to 24, with a 10.6% share.
Vancouver
Talk station CKNW once again grabs the number one spot for A12+ with a 13.1% share of hours tuned (up from 12.2%).
Taking the top spot for women 25 to 54 is JR Country with a 15.7% share (up from 11.5%, taking the top spot from Rock 101). JR Country also took over the top spot for women 18-34, JR with a 12.8% share, followed by FOX with 11.5%.
FOX holds the lead for male listeners. In the 25 to 54 group, it delivered a 14.8 % share (down from 16.2%), and FOX is also well out in front for men 18 to 34 with a 20% share of hours tuned (down from 27.2%).
Edmonton
Country station CISN takes over the top spot with A12+ from CBC Radio One, posting a 9% share of hours tuned (up from 8.2% in the last book).
Top 40 station KISS 91.7 took over two of the top spots. It took number one with women 25 to 54, delivering a 12.3% share (up from 12.1%), as well as with women 18 to 34, deliver a 15.7%. NOW! managed to once again top the list for men 25 to 54 with a 13% share (flat with the last book), with classic rock station K97 once again leads the way for men 18 to 34 with a 14% share.
Calgary
CBC Radio One again leads the way for A12+ with a 13.1% share (up from 12.2%).
101.5 Today Radio is most popular with women, taking the number one spot for women 25 to 54 by delivering an 8.8% share, despite by down from 10.5%. The station was also number one with women 10 to 24, posting a 12.1% share.
For men 25 to 54, X92.9 rules with a 13.2% share (up from 12.6%), while the alternative rock station also took over the top spot for men 18 to 34 by delivering a 17.6% share.
Montreal
For Francophone listeners, talk station CHMP 98.5 FM is once again number for A12+ with a 22.8% share (down from 24.7%). And while the talk station’s 23% share managed to hold on to its top spot with men 25 to 54 (despite being down from 24.7%), adult contemporary station 105.7 Rhythme-FM took the top spot with women 25 to 54 by delivering a 17.1% share (up from 14.3%).
For Anglophone A12+ listeners, CJAD 800 is still number one with a 28.7% (up from 26.8%). For women 25 to 54, The Beat 92.5 is still out in front with a big 26.9% share (though its dominance is waning slightly, down from 29.8%). For men 25 to 54, CHOM is still number one at a 20% share (down from 21.4 %).
