Hyundai starts a big radio push in Toronto: Media Monitors

Meanwhile, Virgin Plus and Nissan switched top spots in Montreal.

Automakers are revving things up for spring in Canada’s two biggest radio markets, according to Media Monitors data for April 18 to 24.

In Toronto, Hyundai began a new radio push with the most ads of any advertiser, pushing Public Mobile down to second. Honda also made a big jump, up to third from the previous week’s 28th spot. And while they moved down a few spots, both Toyota Parts & Service and the Toyota Dealer Association managed to stay in the top ten.

Another big advertiser was Telus, which was the fourth most-active thanks to radio ads as part of a recently launched masterbrand campaign.

Automakers also had a significant presence in Montreal, even though Virgin Plus jumped up by one spot to take the #1 position from Nissan, which moved into second. Ford, meanwhile, jumped from seventh to fourth. The Montreal Electric Vehicle show also started a new buy last week, purchasing the third-most spots.

Telus also brought the radio element of its campaign to Montreal with the fifth-most spots, with Bell and Le Frame Shoppe maintaining strong buys from recent weeks.

Categorically, automakers were the most active advertisers in both markets, with business services taking the second spot in Toronto and wireless carriers doing the same in Montreal.
