DAZN picks up more UEFA streaming rights

The sports streamer continue to build its library of content from European leagues.

Sports streamer DAZN has bolstered its library of soccer content by picking up more rights to major UEFA tournaments and matches.

The new deal includes English language streaming rights to UEFA Nations League 2022/23, 2024/25 and 2026/27, including the league finals; qualifiers to Euro 2024 and 2028; qualifiers to 2026 FIFA World Cup; the Finalissima Match in 2022 and 2024; and internal friendly matches.

The deal includes English language rights of select matchups from national teams including England, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and France, with a minimum of  57 matches for each national team between now and 2028.

This adds to DAZN’s existing soccer rights, which have been focused on European leagues and include the UEFA Men’s and Women’s Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference.

DAZN first launched sponsorship packages targeted around its soccer content in 2020, which followed its integration of ads to the platform in 2019. Earlier this year, the company changed its executive structure to pursue opportunities in “always on” sports like soccer and rugby, as well as ecommerce and sports betting.

Privately-held DAZN does not regularly disclose subscriber numbers, though told the BBC it had topped 15 million last year. In 2020, it had over 40 million hours of programming streamed within Canada.
