Which networks are winning Quebec’s fall TV season?

TVA has had a notable increase in share, though Radio-Canada has some strong performers.

TVA Group has taken the lead in Quebec for the fall season, according to Numeris.

TVA’s 25.5% primetime market share among Quebecers 25 to 54 is the highest its had since fall 2012. That gives TVA nearly a seven-point lead over Radio-Canada at 18.7% and almost double that of Noovo at 11.9%, which experienced a drop this fall among adults 25 to 54.

For the month of September, TVA accounted for 23 of the top 30 programs in Quebec, according to Numeris. Four of TVA’s dramas – Indéfendable, Anna et Arnaud, L’échappée and Alertes – drew over one million viewers each. The network’s first nightly drama, Indéfendable, attracts 1.5 million viewers per episode and is neck-and-neck with the leading show in the timeslot, Radio-Canada’s STAT, a new emergency room drama, with 1.56 million viewers.

Sunday is appointment TV time for TVA’s variety shows. Chanteurs masqués (The Masked Singer) is number one overall, with 1.6 million viewers tuning in to watch well-known personalities sing in costumes. Then comes the variety show Révolution, with 1.3 million fans tuning in. Radio-Canada’s competitors in those timeslots were Occupation Double Martinique with 586,400 viewers and Le gros laboratoire with 608,200.

TVA Group’s specialty channels also had a good showing. Among adults 24 to 54, TVA Group channels score a 15% share, up 3.3% vs. the same period last year, Bell Media followed with 11.3% share, SRC’s share was 5.5%, and Corus Média scored 5.9%.
