Outfront Media Canada has acquired 57 static posters and 24 digital billboard assets in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada from Digital Outdoor Media Inc. (DOMI).
DOMI was formerly known as E.C. Boone Ltd., a family-run business founded in 1954. While Outfront is acquiring the entirety of the company’s out-of-home assets, E.C. Boone is continuing its production business, which creates corporate signage and promotional products.
“This recent agreement solidifies Outfront’s ongoing commitment to expanding our business to offer more local and national advertising in Atlantic Canada,” said Michele Erskine, CEO of Outfront Canada.
The new OOH assets add to Outfront’s existing presence in Atlantic Canada, which includes 232 posters, 204 transit shelters, eight large format static billboards and six digital billboards in Halifax, Moncton, Saint John, Fredericton and Cape Breton.
The acquisition, which was fully funded with cash on hand, continues a trend of consolidation in Canada’s out-of-home industry. In the summer, Outfront bought all 14 of Leading Outdoor’s digital screens in Calgary, while Astral acquired Imagine Outdoor’s entire digital out-of-home advertising network in Alberta in September.
