Canadian Tire is winding down its centennial year by giving Canadians a virtual reality experience that lets them create and buy their ideal Christmas tree.
The VR experience gives families the ability to design a tree in a digital environment. Users can choose a generic tree or one of the pre-lit options from the retailer’s Noma brand, as well as ornaments, garland and other decorations from its Canvas private label.
When the user is happy with the personalized tree, they can order it and the ornaments for pick up or delivery.
The experience is available using the Meta Quest VR headset, smartphone or web browser.
The tree decorating experience is set in a virtual living room where, in addition to designing a personalized tree, users can complete side quests following clues hidden within interactable objects throughout the space. Once all tasks are complete, the user is entered into a contest to win one of 100 limited-edition NFTs, created by five Canadian digital artists.
