Canadian Press launches its own news site

The ad-supported website gives the news agency's work a dedicated home for the first time.

Through its 106-year history, the Canadian Press has operated largely as a wire service, with the work of its journalists and photographers appearing only in the pages and newscasts of other outlets that subscribe to its services.

Now, that has changed, as the news agency has launched a dedicated website to host its work.

The new website features the work of the Canadian Press’ team of over 180 journalists, covering national, international and regional news, as well as sections on politics, business, health, entertainment, science and the environment. It also has a section dedicated to fact-checking misinformation that may be spreading around high-profile news stories, as well as an area to access multimedia work from Canadian Press photographers and videographers.

The site is also ad-supported – with display ads on the home page, section pages and stories – and is free to access for readers with no sign-up or subscription. Content on the site is updated continuously throughout the day as new stories are published.
