Karel Wegert is returning to Media Experts to take over as the IPG Mediabrands agency’s CEO.
Wegert previously spent 15 years with Media Experts, during which time he helped it become Canada’s first Google-certified media agency, launched Canada’s first agency programmatic trading desk Xpeto and rolled out its audience and analytics practice. He was EVP at Media Experts when he left last year to become president of Mediabrands’ data and tech agency Kinesso Canada, where he oversaw the Canadian launch of the Marketing Intelligence Engine consumer intelligence platform, as well as the associated Optimization Engine platform at addressable activation division Matterkind.
“Karel’s impressive track record of evolving and expanding advanced business solutions for customers has made him an essential part of our overall business growth, a trusted resource to our clients, and a respected leader in our company and the industry,” said Graham Moysey, CEO of IPG Mediabrands.
Wegert’s new role is effective this week. He succeeds Robert Jenkyn, who had been the agency’s president since 2018 and CEO since 2021.
“The foundation at Media Experts is remarkably strong, and I join an impressive and talented leadership team who are focused on ensuring the agency is built to drive continued client innovation and business growth,” Wegert added.
Last year, Media Experts promoted four into VP roles in Canada to maintain its leadership in the digital space and provide guidance to clients in high-demand areas.
