SJC Media has appointed Jason Maghanoy, previously VP of digital solutions and business development, as publisher of iconic 118-year-old Canadian publication Maclean’s.
Working with Maclean’s editor-in-chief Sarah Fulford – who was appointed to her role last year – Maghanoy will be responsible for raising the brand’s profile and expanding its revenue streams. He will also continue to work as publisher of Canadian Business, a role he added to his remit in early 2022.
Maghanoy has been with SJC Media for nearly four years in senior roles with SJC publications Toronto Life and Canadian Business. Before SJC, he spent two years as director of revenue at NOW Magazine.
Since joining SJC in 2018, Maghanoy has launched TL Insider, Toronto Life’s premium membership program and expanded SJC Media’s experiential program with a new slate of signature events. Maghanoy will also continue to oversee SJC’s events business in his new role.
On Friday, Maclean’s won Best Magazine in the News, Business and General Interest category at the National Magazine Awards. It is the second year in row Maclean’s has won the award, both of which came after a major redesign.
