Bell Media has set out its plans for a full month of coverage for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, beginning on July 20.
TSN will air all 64 matches in the tournament live, beginning on Thursday with the host nations: New Zealand facing Norway at 1 a.m. ET, and Australia facing Ireland at 5 a.m. ET. The first Canadian group stage match, against Nigeria, airs Thursday at 9 p.m. ET. Matches featuring the Canadian national team will also air live on CTV, with coverage extending to both networks’ websites and apps, while RDS will provide French-language broadcasts.
Each tournament match will air following a pre-game show, with every Canadian group stage match having an hour-long preview.
As the tournament’s location comes with a significant time difference, TSN will also air a “Match of the Day” at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. ET, as well as a third broadcast happening nightly, with the exact timing varying based on the rest of the network’s broadcast schedule. TSN will also air half-hour tournament recaps throughout the tournament, as well as an hour-long recap focused on the Canadian team’s progress.
Canadian players will also be getting profiles on Sportscentre and TSN’s online channels. Other digital content on TSN web and social platforms include news, press conferences, highlights, analysis, player and team features.
Sponsors for Bell Media’s World Cup broadcasts include BMO, Visa, Adidas, FritoLay and CIBC, all of which will be featured prominently across TSN platforms throughout the tournament.
