Lamar Advertising has secured two long-term contracts for bus and street furniture advertising across fast-growing markets in British Columbia and Ontario.
In Ontario, Durham Region Transit has retained Lamar to provide bus and shelter advertising for five years.
Durham Region, which is to the east of Toronto, is one of Canada’s fastest-growing tech talent areas with more than 30 universities and colleges within driving distance.
Durham Region Transit serves the towns of Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Ajax, Bowmanville, Brooklin, Uxbridge and Port Perry, with connections to GO Transit and the TTC. In 2022, it had approximately seven million riders, with ridership forecast to top 12 million by 2025, according to the service’s most recent five-year plan. It has over 700 shelter faces, as well as over 240 vehicles.
Lamar has also expanded on its relationship with The City of Kelowna to handle its street furniture advertising for five years. Lamar already handled advertising on the city’s bus shelters, with the new deal adding over 100 new faces.
Kelowna is the largest city in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley featuring arts and culture in addition to outdoor activities that make it a prime tourist destination. It is also home to 15,000 students attending UBC Okanagan and Okanagan College. The transit service had more than five million riders in 2022, with goals of doubling ridership by 2040.
“With these two new contracts, we are excited to continue our focused growth in transit and street furniture advertising across Canada,” says Andy Querin, executive sales director for Lamar Transit Advertising. “The new Ontario inventory available in the growing market of the Durham Region and the expansion of our existing Kelowna offering with the addition of street furniture provide our clients with new and impactful ways to promote their advertising messages.”
Between Canada and the U.S., Lamar’s portfolio now includes approximately 361,000 displays.
