Toyota begins Olympic plans by introducing Team Toyota

The automaker revs up its sponsorship activities by naming the athletes that will appear in the next "Start Your Impossible" campaign.

Toyota Canada has introduced the roster of six elite athletes on Team Toyota as they prepare for the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024.

In the run up to the games, each of the athletes will be sharing their stories of overcoming challenges and achieving athletic excellence, with a goal of inspiring other Canadians and future athletes.

The automaker’s “Start Your Impossible” campaign was first introduced before the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, part of its activities as the official mobility partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The global platform featured athletes from around the world sharing stories of how they achieved the seemingly impossible by unlocking their full potential through the power of movement. The campaign has been reiterated for subsequent games, with local executions featuring athletes from the different markets Toyota operates in.

“Our Team Toyota athletes are remarkable examples of what’s possible through the power of human movement,” said Cyril Dimitris, VP of sales and marketing at Toyota Canada. “By sharing their personal stories about what has helped shape them, beyond sport, we hope to encourage and inspire more Canadians to start their own impossible.”

The Canadian Team Toyota members are wheelchair basketball veteran Cindy Ouellet of Quebec; Tokyo 2020 decathlon champion Damian Warner of Ontario; medal winning Para cyclist Keely Shaw of Saskatchewan; Breaking athlete Philip Kim of BC; Tammara Thibeault, world boxing champ and Olympian of Quebec; and bronze media winning para athlete Marissa Papaconstantinou of Ontario.
