SJC Media names new group publisher

In his newly expanded role, Jason Maghanoy will oversee synergies across SJC’s current affairs brands.

SJC Media has appointed Jason Maghanoy as group publisher at SJC Media with a focus on its events business, Maclean’s and Toronto Life magazines.

Maghanoy has been publisher of Maclean’s since May, working with editor-in-chief Sarah Fulford to raise the brand’s profile and identify new revenue opportunities. Prior to joining SJC Media in 2018, he held positions at NOW Magazine, The Canadian Stage Company, the Toronto Arts Council, TIFF, and The Word On The Street.

Since joining SJC Media in 2018, Maghanoy has led SJC brand programs such as TL Insider, a new slate of events including The Maclean’s Ideas Summit and FASHION The Ones, and the relaunch of Canadian Business (CB).

Maclean’s recently made a splash by debuting a Canadian magazine first: a cover entirely generated by AI. The illustrations that accompany the 14 essays on the topic inside the issue were also generated by AI, each based on a prompt inspired by the idea the author lays out in its writing.
