Financial consulting firm Deloitte Canada has announced the companies that made the cut on its annual list of tech companies “to watch” in Canada, with several coming from the media sector.
Among the media or media-adjacent companies selected for the company’s “Technology Fast 50, Enterprise—Industry leaders, Clean Technology, and Companies-to-Watch” list is Montreal-based OOH platform Hivestack. According to Deloitte, Hivestack saw three-year growth of 1,959%, landing it at #11 on the list. The company signed a strategic partnership with Yahoo in May.
Close behind it was Vancouver-based B2B digital media publisher Black & White Zebra, which ranked 16th with a three-year growth of 1,356%.
Personalized digital experiences company Symend came in at #19, while market research provider Potloc ranked two spots behind Symend. It was followed by Klue at #28, which provides market intelligence; music-focused marketing and analytics platform Wavo.me; and cost-per-click advertising network SourceKnowledge (which was acquired by German commercial advertising firm Mrge in April).
Loyalty program for gamers Mistplay; online car marketplace EBlock and advertising platform for digital marketers StackAdapt were also listed. For its part, StackAdapt’s growth has been boosted by the partnership with ad tech firm Broadsign earlier this year, which allowed the company to expand access to DOOH.
“This year’s thriving cohort of winners have delivered outstanding revenue growth, despite prevailing uncertainties in the economy and marketplace,” said Technology Fast 50 national leader Anders McKenzie in a release.
Deloitte also published its North American Technology Fast 500, which this year includes more than 90 Canadian businesses. Some of the media companies selected include AI-driven marketing software BoomerangFX; scheduling and visitor platform Coconut; digital and social agency for influencers Viral Nation; data company ZoomInfo Technologies; digital media buying and planning agency Hotspex Media; provider of marketing-focused online business Wishpond Technologies; and Thinkific, which help advertisers to create and sell courses.
