Joseph Leon leaves Plus Company

After nearly 11 years working with the network’s media agencies, Leon is moving on to a new venture.

Joseph Leon (pictured) has left his post as chair of Plus Company’s Innovation Group to move on to a new venture after spending more than 10 years in senior roles with Plus Company media agencies.

Karine Courtemanche, EVP of Plus Company Canada and president of the Media Group, will replace him.

For almost seven of those years, Leon led the agencies as CEO of media and president of Cossette Media, also overseeing Jungle Media and Impact Research.

Leon announced the move on LinkedIn on Thursday, saying only it was “time for something a little different” and that there would be “more to follow.”

Leon has worked as a strategic investor and advisor for various early-stage companies, primarily in adtech, mobile and retail. He has more than 20 years of experience in the media business with Focus One Media New York and in London, England as head of online marketing at Lloyds TSB and, for seven years, founding partner and managing director EMEA of Essence. In addition, he spent four years as a member of the IAB Canada board of directors.

In his farewell note, Leon said “I could talk about growth (a lot), challenges (tons) and learnings (too many to count!) but at the end of the day, it all boils down to one thing – my teammates.”
