Corus appoints two new members to its content leadership team
Corus Entertainment Inc is restructuring its original content leadership team with the addition of Rachel Nelson, as vice-president, original programming and head of Corus Studios, and Mellany Welsh as vice-president and head of Nelvana. They will both be reporting directly to Troy Reeb, executive vice president network and content.
“Amid ongoing changes in the competitive landscape for Canadian programming and building upon many
successful years of growing our slate of Corus Original content, the changes announced today support our focus on prioritizing the highest return on investment for our own networks as well as international sales,” said Reeb in a statement. “Corus has fostered incredible, creative talent with a legacy of producing great Canadian shows, and I’m confident that legacy will continue to grow under the leadership of Rachel and Mellany.”
Nelson has worked overseeing development of production of both scripted and unscripted programming for Corus, while prior to this, Welsh led Nelvana’s licensing and merchandising business,
Along with the appointment, Corus announced that Lisa Godfrey, senior vice president of original programming and Corus Studios, will be stepping down after 24 years with the company. Pam Westman, president of Nelvana, and Jeff Norton, head of Waterside Studios, are also leaving the company, but will stay on in a consulting capacity to aid transition.
Sonia Boisvert in as vice president of content and production at TFO
TFO, the Franco-Ontarian public broadcaster, has appointed Sonia Boisvert as vice president, content and production.
Boisvert has had a long career in Ontario media, including 25 years at the Radio-Canada where she led teams in the production and programming of Franco-Ontarian content, overseeing several video productions and radio programs produced throughout Ontario.
“Ms. Boisvert stands out for her knowledge of Francophone communities and her collaborative spirit. She will add her perspective to the work already well underway by TFO to remain a relevant and discoverable medium for our audiences. Ms. Boisvert will continue to bring a vision that will make the richness of our Franco-Ontarian and Francophone minority communities in Canada shine on our screens,” Michelle Séguin, CEO of TFO, said in a statement.
Global esport company, OverActive Media, switches up leadership
Matt McGlynn is stepping down from his role as OverActive’s senior vice president, marketing and brand, which he has had since 2022. February 16, 2024 will be his last day.
“Matt played an important role in growing OverActive Media’s brands, approach to content and social media reach,” said Adam Adamou, OverActive Media’s co-founder and CEO. “I would like to thank Matt for his meaningful contribution and extend our best wishes for his continued success.”
No word yet on who might replace him.
