
London Drugs has appointed EssenceMediacom as its AOR, including media, to expand its presence in the country and reach a wider audience.
The Vancouver-based agency will be in charge of the planning and buying of all media channels for the pharmacy chain.
London Drugs, based in British Columbia, sells through its online platform and in its 80 stores located in more than 35 markets, including Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
The retailer ended 2023 as one of AdEase’s top 10 most active radio advertisers, with 957 combined occurrences between Dec. 25 to 31. It was also one of the biggest movers that week, rising 31 spots to third in Vancouver and 17 to ninth in Edmonton. The company was also active on TV during the last days of 2023. It reported a total of 1,646 occurrences, finishing fourth in Calgary and ninth in Vancouver.
EssenceMediacom was launched by GroupM early last year. In Canada, some of the agency’s clients are Aldo, Uber, CIBC and the Ontario Lottery Gaming Corporation. Globally, it has worked with Hasbro, Google, NBCUniversal, Mars and Coca-Cola.
