According to the upcoming season of Canada’s got Talent, the going rate for having talent in Canada has gone up. For the first time, the Canadian talent competition, now in its 4th season, will be handing out a cool million to the winning act, courtesy of Rogers. It’s the largest pay day in Canadian television history, and comes with financial advice from CIBC.
In addition to advising the winner, CIBC is also providing each Golden Buzzer winner (when a judge uses their once-in-a-season power to unilaterally send a competitor to the live broadcast) with $25,000. The million dollar season begins March 19 on Citytv, and it can be streamed on Citytv+.
Joining Rogers and CIBC as premium sponsors are Orville Redenbacher, Kruger (Scotties tissues), and Unilever. The popcorn maker is the official snack sponsor, and will have in-store and on-pak branding, while being tied onscreen to sneak peaks of future episodes. Scotties’ sponsorship will be aligned with the tear-jerking moments that call for facial tissue. Tim Hortons is returning as a partner as well. Viewers will see the judges drinking from Tim Hortons cups at their table, as well as other in-show integration to highlight new products. Keeping contestants and judges fresh and clean will be Unilever’s Dove brands.
The inaugural million dollar prize is part of Roger’s commitment to making premium original Canadian content, and fostering homegrown talent. Last year, Rogers contributed approximately $950M to Canadian content and produced over 12,700 hours of unique Canadian programming.
