Rogers, Amazon, NHL ink two-year Monday Night hockey deal

Under the deal, Prime Video will become the home of Monday Night Games in Canada starting in the 2024-25 season.

Rogers Communications, Amazon and the National Hockey League (NHL) have inked a two-year deal to deliver Monday night hockey exclusively on Prime Video in Canada.

Under the deal, Prime Monday Night Hockey will stream all national regular season Monday night NHL games in English for the 2024/25 and 2025/26 NHL seasons.

Produced by Prime Video, the Monday night package will feature a new broadcast team offering in-depth analysis and play-by-play coverage, and stream live on the platform. Production details, including talent, will be announced at a later date, according to a news release.

The deal builds on a 12-year agreement between Rogers and the NHL and marks the league’s first exclusive national broadcast package with a digital-only streaming service in Canada, said the release.

Sportsnet launched on Prime Video Channels in Canada at the beginning of the 2023/24 hockey season.

Colette Watson, president, Rogers Sports and Media, in a statement said that “Rogers’ partnership with the NHL has been incredibly successful and integral to Sportsnet’s leadership as the number one sports media brand in Canada.”

“Amazon has a strong track record of presenting sports on Prime Video in a highly innovative and viewer-friendly manner,” added David Proper, NHL senior EVP, media and international strategy.

Since 2021, the NHL has worked with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver new in-game analytics and video highlights to boost fan experiences.
