McDonald’s is no longer the most active advertiser on radio. Tim Hortons has taken the lead with a difference of 5,604 occurrences, according to the latest AdEase report for the week of May 6 to 12.

Tims notched up 6,673 combined occurrences, ranking first in Calgary, third in Vancouver and Edmonton, fifth in Toronto, seventh in Ottawa and ninth in Montreal. Calgary remains the market where the QSR invests the most, with 2,002 occurrences. The previous week, the company was the second most active advertiser, with 7,034 total occurrences.

Subway Restaurants placed second on the ranking with 5,571 combined occurrences, followed by Rogers with 4,657 and Government Of Ontario with 2,670. McDonald’s, meanwhile, reported 1,069 total occurrences, 6,506 fewer than the previous week, and only made the list in Vancouver and Edmonton.

Among the week’s biggest movers were Speedy Glass, which rose 383 spots to sixth in Vancouver; Metro, which jumped 130 positions to fourth in Ottawa; and online flower store Floralies Jouvence, which climbed 289 places to fourth in Quebec.

QSRs, dine-in restaurants and bars, furniture stores and Internet services were among the highest spending groups during the week.
