Digital publication Daily Hive and its Dished brand have partnered with Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival (GVFTF) to launch a food truck festival in Vancouver this summer.
The Dished Food Truck Fest will feature 18 food trucks, live music and a BC Shop Local marketplace with local crafts and artwork. It will take place at the Vancouver Art Gallery’s north plaza on August 11 and will be free to the public. The truck fest marks the first large-scale foray for Daily Hive, which had already expanded into other experiential events to build community and connection with Canadians.
The activation comes on the heels of a year of growth for Dished in different cities across Canada, especially on the West Coast, according to the company.
“With the largest editorial food audience on Canada’s West Coast, we hope this will be the first of many experiential brand activations to cement Dished and Daily Hive in Canada’s largest cities,” said Hanna McLean, national Dished editor at Daily Hive.
Dished, which has a team of editors in Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton, posts content to its over 400,000 social media followers about food and beverage, including restaurant tours and videos on soon-to-open bars. And Daily Hive covers lifestyle content for Canadians aged 18 to 44. It is part of Zoomer’s digital network, which has six national platforms with more than 10 million subscribers. The pages reach more than 29 million visits per month.
For its part, GVFTF is well-known for setting up food trucks, artisan markets, and live entertainment around British Columbia. The Dished Food Truck Fest will be the collective’s first food truck event in downtown Vancouver in over a decade.
