McDonald’s has boosted its radio purchase from May 13 to 19, moving to the top of AdEase’s ranking of most active marketers.

The latest report from the monitoring company shows that the QSR scored 9,034 combined occurrences, up from 1,069 the previous week. It ranked first in Vancouver and Edmonton; second in Calgary; Ottawa and Quebec; third in Toronto; and sixth in Montreal.

Toyota came in second place with 7,323 combined occurrences, followed by Tim Hortons with 6,570 occurrences. The restaurant chain was the most active advertiser the prior week, recording 6,673 occurrences.

Among the marketers that joined the AdEase list during the week were LCBO, which made the ranking in Ottawa, and Lexus dealers, which placed eighth in Toronto.

Some of the biggest movers were Scotiabank, which climbed 366 positions to eighth in Vancouver; Specsavers, which rose 306 places to fifth in Calgary; and The Brick, which increased 226 spots to seventh in Edmonton. On the category side, multiple banking services group moved up 233 positions in Vancouver, while lottery draws jumped 199 positions in Calgary.

QSRs and import SUVs were the top spending groups of the week.
