Spotted! Cheetos brings its hockey glove statue to Edmonton

PepsiCo had already placed the sculpture in Toronto earlier this year for the NHL All-Star Game weekend.

In January, PepsiCo Foods brought its Cheeto statue to Toronto for the NHL All-Star Game weekend. Now, the “Cheetos Top Cheetle” sculpture will head to Edmonton to highlight the brand at another hockey event.

The activation, a 16-foot-tall Bauer hockey glove with Cheetle-tipped fingers (a blend of Cheetos’ signature powder), will be featured this Wednesday at the Rogers Place ICE for the playoff game between Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars. PepsiCo will also place a Cheetos scoreboard, which displays the game’s countdown while orange fingertips are visible.

The brand will be giving out Cheetos samples and running contests during the game – attendees will be able to take home a hockey tapes, laces and a limited edition Bauer glove. The activation is being promoted through social networks. Vocab agency handled the logistics, while GSP was behind the creative.

The statue appeared at Toronto’s Roundhouse Park in January, before moving to the Hyundai NHL Fan Fair at the Metro Toronto Convention Center from Feb. 1 to 4. Cheetos rolled OOH ads throughout the city to support the activation. Previously, the brand placed the sculpture at The Frito Lay Canada Bullpen, an experiential activation in Calgary that included a Cheeto-shaped mechanical bull and Frito Lay snacks. And in 2022, it set up a similar statue in Alberta to familiarize Canadians with the term Cheetle.
