Disney and Pixar are looking to grab the attention of Canadians ahead of the upcoming release of their movie Inside Out 2. The companies are rolling out an activation at Etobicoke’s CF Sherway Gardens mall.
Available from this Friday until June 16, the activation is an interactive replica of the new, improved and more complex console inside the mind of Riley, the film’s protagonist. Visitors will be able to test their skills with a memory game, participate in photo sessions and receive gifts.
Sherway is promoting the space on its website and social media. Disney Canada is also running ads on its social media channels. Toronto-based Simon Pure Marketing is the agency that developed the activation.
Produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures, Inside Out 2 revolves around the mind of Riley, now a teenager, as the headquarters undergo a sudden demolition to make room for the new emotions Anxiety, Envy, Ennui and Shame. It will be released in theaters on June 14.
Disney had previously launched an activation in the same mall for the release of Wish, the movie that commemorated the company’s 100th anniversary. The space, open from Nov. 17 to 26, recreated king Magnificent’s observatory, where visitors could write down their dreams and leave them there. The space featured a photo exhibition of movie sequences as well as interactive features such as the king’s throne.
