The latest report from monitoring firm AdEase shows that Subway Restaurants was the most active advertiser during the week of July 1 to 7.

The QSR reported a total of 6,444 occurrences, placing first in Ottawa and Toronto, second in Calgary, third in Vancouver and Montreal, and sixth in Edmonton. Toronto was the market with the most occurrences (1,436), followed by Vancouver (1,316).

McDonald’s notched up 6,328 combined occurrences and ranked among the top 10 most active marketers in almost every city except Quebec. Wendy’s had 5,233 occurrences, while Spence Diamonds recorded 4,285.

Among the week’s biggest movers were Strom Spa Nordique, which climbed 108 places to ninth in Quebec, Societe des Alcools du Quebec (SAQ), which moved up 32 places to fifth in Montreal, and Wendy’s, rising 28 places to third in Toronto.

On the category side, the rewards program group rose significantly in Vancouver, jumping 223 spots to sixth in the city, while home furnishing stores rose 40 positions in Ottawa and beer, wine and liquor stores went up 31 places in Montreal.

The highest-spending groups include QSRs, furniture stores and TV and streaming services. Festivals remain in the top 10 in Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec.
