The latest AdEase report shows that McDonald’s was the most active advertiser on radio in the week of Jul 8 to 14.
The QSR notched up 10,392 combined occurrences, and ranked first in all markets except Montreal, where it came in second. The market where it spent the most on advertising was Vancouver, with 2,901 occurrences. The week before the restaurant chain recorded 6,328 combined occurrences.
Volkswagen dealers also increased its spending during the last week, recording a total of 4,843 occurrences. The automaker ranked second in Ottawa, third in Edmonton, fifth in Calgary, seventh in Vancouver and eighth in Montreal.
Subway Restaurants, on the other hand, decreased their spending by 4,523 occurrences, which are 1,921 occurrences less than the previous week. Wendy’s Restaurant also decreased its buying, registering 1,181 fewer occurrences.
Among the week’s biggest movers were Nissan dealers, which rose 321 positions to ninth in Montreal; BCE, which climbed 67 positions to fourth in the same market; and Volvo De Quebec, which moved up 131 positions to tenth in Quebec.
On the category side, import SUVs rose significantly in Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa and Montreal, while eyewear and pptical stores gained popularity in Edmonton.
